HP Pavilion Media Center m8000 Desktop PC series

i ran a memtest 86 3.5 it ran the entire test on all memory sticks with out shutting down. http://www.memtest86.com/

but after test was finished i restarted machine and beeps again. then let sit for 10 minutes and booted fine, ran again in windows for 10 minutes until it went to sleep then would not wake, turned off and on, now beeps again

its confusing i cant figure if its OS, memory, or motherboard

let it sit in safe mode for a bit and then for a try i did a system restore back to the begining of the month, hit the desktop waited a while

Re: beeps

download the latest video driver

in the device manager uninstall the video card
reboot tapping f8 and choose low resolution mode
when windows finishes rebooting
disable a/virus
install your drivers
reboot the computer

have you upgraded the video card since you bought it
got into safe mode,
removed the driver,
rebooted and installed updated driver from nvidias site,
boots to windows, but now after a few mintues it will go into a sleep mode
but wont wake, reboot and beep, let sit for a bit and it will boot fine
until it goes to sleep

just a thought, i dont have another to test, but do you think it could be a video card going out, and could a video card cause memory beeps?
Re: beeps

Try 1 stick of ram but in different ram slots and see if you get the same behaivior. If it acts like that with ram in a certain slot and not another then you have a bad ram slot, if it acts like that in all slots then I suspect the motherboard we really do need the specs and it would be good to give us the voltages and temps from bios.

Some Abit boards awhile back acted like that when they were on there way out
Re: beeps

i figured it out, i got a different video card. works perfectly
