I have recently noticed some odd behavior in my computer, for some reason when I open My Computer and double click on a hard drive (I have 3) it will not open the drive. However I can still right-click and choose Explore to get around it.

At first I thought that this was a virus but after 3 scans with SpyBot I am still clean. Any ideas? It's not critical but I do find it odd.

Re: Baffled again, double-click does not open hard drives but right click will

What happens when you double click? Nothing, or Search opens, or a command prompt, or something else?

The cursor shows activity as if it was going to do it, and then nothing.

Have you tried a System Restore?

Another option is to use the following registry file to reset the default settings in the registry for folders, directories, and drives.
Copy the text into Notepad, save on your desktop with a .reg extension (Be sure to change the Save as Type box to All Files)
Double click the file to merge into the registry:

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

Re: Baffled again, double-click does not open hard drives but right click will

I haven't tried a system restore, I'll give the registry edit a try and see if it works.

No dice on that registry edit, same thing on double click, a whole bunch of nothing.

I am going to attempt a system restore, as I am currently at school I am going to try and do so remotely.

Update: System restore worked, I need to keep in mind the simple things first. Thanks TheOutcaste.

Glad it's working.

Now if only it would tell us just what the cause was...

Lol I would if I could, I think when I uninstalled a few programs one of them might have left some setting or registry value that interfered with it. The only thing that I had done in the past few days was uninstall 3 programs so I think that was the culprit, but which one I don't know.
