I have a ASUS P5W DH DELUXE Motherboard ( ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards - ASUS P5W DH Deluxe ) it has a duel ethernet controller and for some reason they have stopped working. they don't show up in device manager and no lights are on on the back of the computer. i've been into the bios and they are both enabled, i'm generally good with computers but this problem has got me could someone please help me i need my internet back on.

I see this often; the network controller has taken a dirt nap; why not just install a cheap belkin pci slot network card and limp that motherboard to the end of the race?

I use Zonex PCI adapters for failed Onboard Ethernet. I think they're about $10.

cool i think i'll have to get one would you say my motherboard is on its last legs i do have power problems too note major but when i switch my pc off it likes to switch its self back on as soon as i shut it down. i have to shut it down then quickly switch it off at the back lol

sounds like you have a bum power supply; many times a poor power supply causes motherboard damage

The PSU may have contributed to the Ethernet failure.

I personally would not replace the board for a dead ethernet controller / I have serviced a pile of boards whose ethernet or sound controller has died; installed a add-on card and they lived to their final days of service >>>> of course you will need a new power supply; I would buy the Corsair 750-TX version 2 and then when you are ready for total system replacement you could bring the power supply forward.

but its your call; if you replace the whole system maybe you were in the direction of performance upgrade?

I've fixed it now there was nothing wrong with it, i don't know how but it had disabled its self and wasn't showing up in device manager, it was in hidden devices. I put alot of time into fixing this problem and its finally paid off, thanks guys for your help and suggestions.

If anybody else is having this problem with ethernet controllers try this:-
- Go to device manager - Click on the view tab
- And click on show hidden devices
If your ethernet device now pops up in device manager right click it and make sure its enabled.

No problem, i hate it when people just say they've fixed there problem and don't say how they did it. it just turns into a dead end topic, and a waste of time reading it lol. it may not help everyone but i'm sure it will help someone eventually.
