Hey guys, this is my first post, but my friend told me that this website is very helpful and the community is really supportive, so I decided to give it a shot.

Earlier this week my computer started acting crazy, and I later came to find out that I had malware on my computer. So, I reformatted my computer and installed Windows XP from scratch.

Windows XP is working fine, but the only problem is that I had Linksys installed and working fine before I reformatted, but now my computer doesn't detect that the Linksys wireless is in my computer, and it won't connect to the Linksys Router in my living room.

Is there anyway to get my system to recognize the hardware in my computer and have it connect to the router like before? I have the Setup Wizard for Linksys, but I think it's for the router and not actually for my computer (because you must have internet for that particular setup, which doesn't make sense).

I hope that my post made sense, if you need any further information just ask.

Re: After Reformat, I have No Internet

sounds like you need to simply reload the linksys device driver. do you still have the CD that came with the Linksys? if so reload the software that the hardware needs to be seen by xp and work correctly.

Re: After Reformat, I have No Internet

I have one disk, but I think it's for the actual Linksys Router setup for the computer in my living room because it says I need Internet connection for the setup to continue.

Is there any way I reload the linksys driver manually on my computer in my room?

Re: After Reformat, I have No Internet

yes it should ...please post back your results does that mean you cannot find the CD or no longer have it...?
Yeah, I don't have the CD, and I looked on the Linksys site and I couldn't find a download there either.

Also the download from my previous post didn't work .. It was a firmware upgrade. What can I do?

Re: After Reformat, I have No Internet

Model: WRT54G and it's version: 2 (I don't know if you need to know which version it is, but that's it)

Thanks for helping me, I really really appreciate this much more than you know.

Re: After Reformat, I have No Internet

looks like the model no. is for a wireless router....

I thought you had a problem with your wireless card inside the desktop PC you recently reloaded windows xp onto? if I understood you correctly ,,,then I need the model no. for the Wireless card inside your desktop PC or are you talking about a Laptop instead?

Oh! My dad bought the router and I thought the card came with the router, so I figured they had the same model number. How would I check the model number of the card inside my desktop?

I am so sorry for the miss-understanding.

Re: After Reformat, I have No Internet

any brand label on it..? who installed the wireless card? maybe you will need to open up the case and remove the card to read off the modell number on the card itself if its not labeled on the back of the card. does it have an antenna attached to it that swivels? there are programs like Belarc advisor that you can download for free and it typcially will check your hardware and tell you what brand and type of wireless card is installed....to do this you will need to connect to the internet with an ethernet cable and do the download of Belarc Advisor and run the program. which ever is easiest for you to do to get brand and model no. of the wireless card.

Thank you sir! I got it working now! I didn't know the wireless card was different from the linksys. I downloaded the correct driver, and everything works like a charm ^^
