A friend's computer died. They would love to be able to recover pictures from it. I have a laptop so I couldn't install it in my computer so I took the hard drive out and put it in a USB case.
No matter what I try to do with this drive I get access denied errors.
Is there anything I can do or do I need to install it in a tower as the primary drive?

Re: Access rights to second hard drive

Thank you for the answer.
The problem is that when I try to take ownership, it tells me access is denied. I'm looking for something more brute force, I think.
I forgot to mention that the laptop I am using is Win7.

Re: Access rights to second hard drive

I got it. Turns out you need a "Professional" release of Windows.
Thanks for the suggestions.
