I have a laptop which has 128 mb of ram (although it says it has 150) and all the OS's I've tried on it have either been way to small or so large it skips, freezes, and is genrally slow. What I'm looking for is an OS that is fairly small and has low system requirments, but also has a good web browser (preferrably firefox or derivative) and a good word processor. It would be nice if the window manager was pretty and all but no where near essential. Thanks for any suggestions.

P.S. It needs to be installable to the HDD

It would help to know what processor model and clock rate are. Initially though I'd say go with Puppy Linux or something using a light window manager. Some people have success with Xubuntu, which uses the XFCE desktop environment, on low spec machines.
