RE. Slow Startup

Danrak: I appreciate your reply. My PC is very slow on startup every time I shut down or restart. I have taken out startup items in msconfig, ran disc clean ( defrag), & the antivirus program is the one that came with my PC. The only thing that I can think of is that I have an external usb harddrive (80 gigs) with about 7500 mp3s (20 gigs) stored on it, that I have added over a period of time. Could this cause the problem even though I turn the power of off the external drive when I reboot or shut down.
