I'm accessing a NAS server remotely through VPN (Netgear FVG318). I can connect to the NAS server but it is very slow when opening and saving documents. When accessing the network drive I am connected to the Internet through wireless connection. When I connect to the Internet through Ethernet cable opening and saving documents is much quicker. Is there anyway I can make the remote access quicker when accessing it through a wireless connection?

A wired internet connection is always going to be faster than a wired one. As a test, try moving your laptop closer to the wireless router and see if the speed improves. You could try updating your wireless NIC drivers, too.
