not sure if I'm in the right form. I have an older computer that is and HP intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.50 GHz, 2.49 GHz 256 of RAM. Hard drive of 38.1 GB. I did the speed test on this website and the result was 177.53 kbps (22.19kb/s)
My computer is slow. what should I do to speed it up? Buy new one and if so , what should I get? I have a 13 and 11 year olds

The speed test sounds like a download test, which measure your internet speed, not the system speed. What OS and service pack are you running?
How much free space is on you r hard drive? Biggest thing from teh info so far would be to add RAM - probably a lot of paging to the HD going on - 256 MB is minimum to run XP, add some open apps and the speed will drop off quickly. USE msconfig to shut down applications you don't need running at start up.

There are updates for the OS for XP there have been three service packs, if you right click on my computer and select properties on the general tab it will tell you the service pack level. start run type msconfig and hit enter, then look on the startup tab.
