Hello,

I have noticed my computer getting slower and slower, there is a lag when clicking a link or opening a document for example. My processor seems to be running almost at max for simple tasks which is not normal.

I had your team check for malware and they said it was not and referred me to here.

http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f50/slow-computer-823065.html#post5129370

It's Windows 7 with AMD Athlon II X4 640. 8GB RAM.

Thanks for any help.

Download Speccy from here: Speccy - Download

The software should ask to either Run, Save or Cancel, Click Run.

Now follow the onscreen instructions to finish the installation of Speccy.

Once installed Speccy should open up. Go to File > Publish Snapshot...

This should open up a link to your personal snapshot. Please post that in your next reply!

Also include the make and model number of your power supply.

Hello,

I have double checked and Windows firewall is off.

Anything else or is my computer fried?

It was pretty dirty inside when I cleaned it, but unfortunatley that didn't really help the speed too much.

Thanks

Download HWMonitor from here:

http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

Make sure to download the .zip file to your desktop.

Once downloaded to your desktop unzip the hwmonitor.zip folder to your desktop.

Open up the unzipped folder and run either the 32bit Software or 64bit Software.
How to tell the difference: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827218
Allow HWMonitor to run while the PC is at an idle state. After about five minutes of running at idle take a screenshot and save the image to your desktop.

Now allow HWMonitor to run while gaming or doing heavy processing for about five minutes. Take another screenshot and save the image to your desktop.

In your next reply please include both screenshots.

I downloaded the windows version. It's only finding two drives, both external and not my main C: drive.

Is that right?

I didn't run any test since I'm thinking you will want to know how my main drive is functioning...

Hi please use the dos version SeaTools for DOS tutorial
it does not need windows to run you may need to change the boot order in the bios to cd/dvd as first boot device, the key you use could be del,F2,or another look at the bottom left corner of your screen as you boot up.The info you need should be there but pay attention as it can pass quickly. If you need to, reboot once you know the key, then change the boot order, insert the disc you have made and save and exit the bios, then try booting from the disc. How you save and exit will be shown in the bios screen as will how to navigate the bios, which is usually using the arrow keys on your keyboard.

You do not need to run the long test. It is not needed, and please do not run it.

How does the PC perform in Safe Mode?

Could you post screenshots of all the programs installed on the PC?

The short test works in the same way as the long test. The long test will just check each and every sector. It's sort of like Malwarebytes and the security team only recommended the short test not long test.

It could also take many hours to run.
