This is just annoying little thing . Always after the splash screen it takes about 20-30 seconds to load up before i even see a cursor on my screen. I tried a boot defrag with no prevail did not work same problem. Also i ran chkdsk after restart and nothing was found. Im kinda leaning towards maybe the drivers for the video card isnt updated properly?? Any input

Sounds to me like a service is causing it. Try msconfig, and go to services, hide all ms services and disable the rest. Reboot and see if it helps. If it does then slowly start turning a few services on at a time to see is causing the issue.

alright thank you both. I just went ahead and did a fresh install to see if that could be the problem also. The operating system itself. If the problem persists i know defintely that it is a hardware problem

Well i did a fresh install and then after that i used driver genius to install some drivers back on the pc. First boot up it worked perfectly fine and then when i installed the drivers that problem came right back. I Think it mite be 1 of the graphic drivers making the slow boot up process after the xp splash screen

Well i did a system Restore and i used 1 of the restore points to where it says "Restore to this point where unsigned driver installed" . After that the system was fine again. Question is what in the world was the unsigned driver for?

Only you would know. Don't use Driver Genius to install drivers. First go to Start/Run and type devmgmt.msc and press enter. In the Device Manager any devices with yellow marks net to them need drivers installed. If you have a name brand PC (Dell, HP etc) go to the Computer manufacturers support/download drivers and type in your service tag# or your make and model # and download the drivers specifically for your computer model. Start with the Chipset driver.

Well that's the thing its a custom pc. Its a MV7IG motherboard. And I know for a fact that it haves a video card in the pci slot. Do I manually have to check to see what kinda card it is so I can install the driver

alright guys i think i have it now. Ugh spunk and shekka its 1 more problem.. I Figured out why after the XP splash screen it loads so slow. Reason being is because of my driver WG111v2 for my USB wireless adapter. it sucks because that's what i use to get on my internet with. Why does installing a driver makes the XP splash screen slow at load up. I mean it takes 20-30 seconds to load up.

The service must be taking a while to initialize. One possible work around would be to delay the service for the adapter, so that it starts after windows has loaded...

Actually before we find the service to the netgear card, lets see if manually adding a ip fixes the issue.

Can you set the ip for the wireless card to a static address and see if this helps anything..

The reason I want to try and enter a static is because it could be that the service is timing out rather than just loading slow. If it is timing out it could be because it can't grab a ip address pre-login. Therefore, if we enter a static address it won't need to look for a dhcp address because it sees that it already has a address.
It takes a few minutes to test. I think it is worth while to try.
