Hi, i would like to make a windows xp installation disk with autostreamer so it includes service pack 2.

However, i do not want to re-install windows, i want to repair it( as i would like to keep all my programs)

so does autostreamer have the ability to repair windows and install sp2 in the process?

thanks

G'Day steviedee,

Hi, i would like to make a windows xp installation disk with autostreamer so it includes service pack 2.
Yes, Autostreamer will slipstream SP2.
I suggest you go here, and read the tutorial.

However, i do not want to re-install windows, i want to repair it( as i would like to keep all my programs)
Once you have created the slipstreamed CD, you will be then able to do a 'repair' installation.

so does autostreamer have the ability to repair windows and install sp2 in the process?
No. All it will do is slipstream SP2.
Once you have completed this task its a completely different task to repair the installation.
I do not believe that it is possible to do both tasks simultaneously.
thanks

hey, thanks for the reply

The reason i am interested in making a slipstream cd is because SP2 wont intstall normally from its .exe, it hangs at "running processes"

so do you think installing with a slipstreamed sp2 cd is a good option?

thanks
If your original CD doesn't have SP2; then, yes it would be a good option.
Hi, my SP2 installation has gotten worse

now it jus extracts all the files, and the installer dosnt even show up, once extracting the window just disappears?!

any ideas?
stay in the original thread for the same problem,i have merged the threads

to slipstream sp2 you need this version
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...BE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en
once you have the the slipstreamed disk, you boot the computer from it and run a repair installation
Hi, i downloaded the link you gave me however i am getting the same problem

any advice?
also when i try to slipstream it with autostreamer, it hangs at "copying to temporary folder" and does not continue the creation of the iso needed to slipstream

i cant get sp2 on my machine no matter what i do!
haha
when trying to slipstream with nlite, i get up to the point in where i choose the service pack to use, so i choose the downloaded file you told me to get, and it goes to extract it and does the same thing as before, the window just disappears and it dosnt seem to be recognized on nlite.
i always burn the iso to disk then pop the disk in to check if it is ok and when it asks i point it to the disk for the slipstream
I have used nLite for about 2 years and have never had a problem. It's very reliable. You have had problems with both nLite and Autostreamer, and I think you should consider the possiblity that you have a problem with your computer that is causing problems, rather than a problems with both of these programs.

What was the recent "repair" you mentioned in the first post? If you had (and still have) a hardware issue, all of this slipstreaming activity may be a waste of time.
ye i agree

the repair was just a simple windows repair

but why would windows sp2 refuse to open let alone pause the installation when at the "running processes stage"

i dont think its hardware related as all my devices seem ok, and i installed sp2 on the system 2 weeks ago with no problems.

it could however be bios related as i cannot start the computer with any mass storage devices plugged in such as a psp ipod nano or external hard drive. the computer does not get passed the motherboards boot screen wen they are plugged in, however, when unplugged, te computer runs normally, and when booted into windows, the devices are recognized and work properly( but not at usb 2.0 speed)
check highspeed or usb2 is enabled in the bios
if there is a infection on any drive in the computer it can cause the problem also
i ahve fullspeed and highspeed in my bios

i should choose highspeed yes?
highspeed i would think i have never struck both listed before
