I was trying to run sketchup2016 with wine 1.8 in Ubuntu 15.10 64bit but it doesn't start. The installer works though. I tried few fixes on the internet like adding riched20 library to wine and disabling ruby API... But that damn thing doesn't even start. What to do?

Re: Sketchup not running with wine

Always check the wine app db first.

Looks like someone else tries on 15.10 and gad same result and it does not run on Ubuntu 15.10

So you can either dual boot with Ubuntu 14.04 or downgrade, or even try Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial currently out in snapshot release. When 16.04 is released it will be another LTS release but currently Ubuntu 14.04 LTS support does not end until April 2019. I was running 15.04 but support finished in Jan 2016 so I
reinstalled 14.04LTS

Yes I saw that. Still hoped it would work. Though I found a solution. And it is working too, just a bit slow. And the add-on like style builder and layout doesn't work.
The trick is to use a 32bit of sketchup2016 and follow these instructions.
