Hello, so a friend of mine just brought me her Sinan Power external disk. She just said its not working for her and she gets an error.

I plugged it in my computer and when I open This PC, the top bar just keeps loading slowly, the disk has just the letter to it (F) with no information about available and taken space or anything. Its just Local Disk (F) and thats it. When I double click it, the mouse cursor turns into that loading circle, and thats it. It just stays this way.

She said she mostly needs the files, so I would appreciate any help on that :)

You can run chkdsk on an external (in this case "F") and use any of the toggles. Before doing, warn your friend that info may be lost and you're not responsible. Tell her it may be lost anyway and you can try recovery software, but can't make promises as to result.

If this drive has it's own Power Adapter, be sure it is the correct one that came with the drive and use it. If the wrong power adapter is used, it will cause problems.
The USB connector inside the Enclosure may have failed.
You can disassemble the Enclosure and take out the HDD inside and attach it internally to a different desktop computer as a secondary drive, or to a different USB Adapter with a Power Adapter. Plug the power in but not the USB yet, put your ear next to the drive, if is is clicking, scaping, Spinning up then spinning down, then drive has failed and needs to be replaced. If it sounds good, plug in USB to the computer.
