this has played ok for a couple of years, but recently after a little game play it closes and gets the dreaded blue screen with the following:

Stop:0x0000007e (0xc0000005, 0x806d1753, 0xba4ffc28, 0xbaff924)

IT also says try change video adaptor and at the bottom of the screen a message reads
beginnning dump of physical memory.

Ive recently put an extra gb of ram in pc because of this problem.Several games are played on pc but the only time it happens is when sims 2 is played.

Hello

Please go to the folder C:\WINDOWS\Minidump

In there should be some minidump files with the file extension .dmp

Please zip them up and attach them to your next post so that I can analyze them and see if any driver was mentioned in the blue screen error message you received.

If you can't zip them up in the Minidump folder, then try copying them into My Documents and zipping them up there.

Hi billyrev,

I've looked through all the dump files you have sent, and there are three different types of errors you have been getting.

0xA: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

0x50: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON-PAGED_AREA

0x7E: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDED_M

A couple of them came up pointing at your Roxio software, and another couple were pointing at Windows drivers.

Because the 0x50 bugcheck came up, I want you to do Memtest86, because it could be that your RAM is faulty.

To run Memtest86, go HERE. Choose the download that says Download - Memtest86 v3.4a ISO image (zip).

Download Imgburn HERE. Burn the .iso you downloaded for Memtest86 using this software on to a blank CD or DVD.

Reboot your computer, go into BIOS and change the boot order to CD first. Then boot from the Memtest CD and let it work its magic

I recommend running it with only one stick of RAM in at a time to get the most accurate results.

Leave it running overnight to get as many passes/fails on the sticks as you can, because sometimes a faulty stick will pass the first time as a fluke.

Post back the results please :)
