I have a compaq presario V6000 laptop.
504 MB of RAM
O.S. : Microsoft Windows XP
Version 2002
Service Pack 2


I installed a new antivirus without uninstalling the previos one.
After that my desktop just used to get freeze as soon as I started windows XP.
One of my friend anyhow opened it up in safe mode and deleted both antiviruses as well as installed a new one and after running a scan deleted about 51 viruses and also closed many existing processes runned by CPU.
After that my laptop works but with many problems :
1. It displays no sound devices installed.
2. Pen drive does not get detected.
3. If I try to install anything new It shows up xxxxx.dll is not a valid windows image and stops it.


Please suggest what could probably be the problem with it and what can be done now.

The obvious thing to try is System restore. ( restores your Xp from an earlier date). Click Start>all programs>accessories>System tools> System restore.

Hey thanx for that..
But i have tried that 2... bt unfortunately my system has made that day as the restore point...(and no other restore point is available) so system restore 2 cannot solve this problem.

thanks 2 all who tried my problems are solved.. it was just that some paths needed 2 get changed and some services enabled..
