well it happens often (specially when i scroll... and strangely even more often in iTunes) that the pc freezes for a moment (though i can move the mouse pointer) after a few seconds the screen goes black and then everything works again...

i went to the eventviewer
no event

i went thousands of times with several spyware/adware programs through the entire computer
...well lots of spyware every time, but still nothing about my problem....

tried Norton
nothing

has anyone got an idea?

Sounds like your monitor or your grafic caed is playing up.

I would delete monitor driver and reboot. If that doesnt help reinstal gafics card driver.

Edit- try a different monitor.

mmmh dont think its a monitor problem
everything freezes except the mouse. And if i click somewhere, like on the minimizing button, after the blackscreen the window is minimized

Hi

See if the problem presents itself when in safe-mode - if not, then that would suggest a driver issue. I would be inclined to uninstall and re-install your graphic drivers anyway.

Check all leads and the security of the video card too.

Also, try booting into your BIOS screen to see if things are stable without windows being loaded - if things are unstable when in the BIOS screen I would swap the video card over and if that doesn't help then another PSU.

Were any hardware or software changes made just prior to this problem starting?

greetings

is this a laptop you are talking about?

in power options in the control panel, make sure everything is selected to "never" in regards to shut down, hybernate ect.

no, its a desktop,

i will try re-installing drivers, though im planning to buy a new one anyway.

no there was no new hardware added at that time (maybe 512mb memory, but that might have been later)

i noticed it the first time when i installed the game "in memoriam" (much internet surfing needed) also i couldnt end the game, as i needed to go to certain site, but somehow there was a problem with an activeX problem.
that problem certainly has nothing to do with the freezing/blackscreen problem, but its worth mentioning anyway
