Okay so I have a textbook which uses DVDs, unfortunately mine didn't come with any (second hand). My coursemate has used Virtual CD (I'm guessing she bought it) and now has files of the CD on her computer. We tried to transfer the files but we're both pretty inept when it comes to computers. She's going to try and put a disk on my external hard drive so we'll see if that works in the morning...

So is there anyway I can get the DVD files off her computer? Do I need to buy Virtual CD? Or does anyone know a free one I could use? And then I could use another coursemates (tactile) CDs and put them on my computer?

Thanks in advance.

It's a tough question to answer because different companies use different security precautions on their equipment. It could be a matter of straight copying or it could be that the software is designed to detect the CD and fail if it's not physically present.

Try the direct copy and tell us what error, if any, you get when you try to run the program.
