HI frnds, i have a peculiar problem.i have a server with Windows 2003 OS.
when i type the name of the server in the run prompt it shows me the shared folders (which are correct).
When i try the server using IP from run command ,it shows a totally different set of shared folders.

pls advice.until yesterday everything was fine

Verify your DNS make sure someone is not piggybacking on your IP or Computer name.

1) ping the computer using computer name Find out what ip u get back.
2 ping the IP with the -a switch verify the name that comes back is the same name u wanted.

If the IP and name don’t match on either the forward or reverse lookup there is a problem
