Hi Riolaw,

Since you have the Windows 7 CD, boot your computer from that CD. When you are presented with options, select REPAIR and let it run the repair cycle and see how that works for you. Let me know what happens.

Good day!

Are there BSODs or not?

Please check c:\windows\minidump - any recent dump files?

If so - Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions - NT6x

there are no dump files when i go "c:\windows\minidump"
I agree with JeepFreek run the repair. I might also suggest to see if there is a hardware check on the recovery partition (if you have one). If not right-click on the c:\ drive & select properties, then click the properties tab & select Error Checking. Also download a memory tester such as the one at Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool
First and foremost back up your data to an external source!
d/load and run the h/drive makers diagnostic utility on the h/drive

Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities (Storage) - TACKtech Corp.

if it comes up clear run chkdsk /f
