Several BSOD s and other issues

1271 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  moneuil
Hi all,

First of all I'm sorry for the long post this will be...
I got my new Alienware Aurora system for less then a week now and have had several issues since.
The system came with a Windows 7 Home Premium x64 OEM edition (Dell- alienware) core i7 930 2.8ghz on intel X58 MB and dual ATI HD 5770 in xfire and a 875W PSU don't know what make...
First issue was overwhelming fan noise (found out later) due to liquid cooler plate not being pressed against the cpu causing cpu to heat up to 70°c idle and 100° under workload causing shutdowns.
Fixed that by pressing gently against the cooler and now it cools as it should idle CPU temps of 50 -55 °c and 70° under workload and no more fan noise.
Wanted to run 3d benchmark Futuremarks 3Dmark06 to see how well my system would score according to the scores found out my crossfire wasn't enabled.
Enabled it and started benchmark again to find out the pc just shuts down somewhere in the test.
GPU idle temps 50-55° under workload 70-80°.
Everytime it crashes I get 9/10 to do a startup recovery or windows wont boot and my crossfire setting is gone( returns after three boots)

To top it off my keyboard (Logitech G11 with standard windowsdrivers) and mouse (Steelseries wow MMO mouse with standard windows drivers) (USB) stops working during Wow or Dawn of war 2 or maybe other games too havnt tested yet.
So had to wait for a bsod telling me something like power driver failure or something after waiting for 15 minutes?

couldnt find that dumpfile anywhere after the recovery/boot?

I have included here other dumpfiles which the sytem did keep for some reason...

Hope you can tell me more about what is wrong?

Thinking if everything fails mybe I should do a clean install of windows 7 myself...?:sigh:

Hi -

Update your Silicon Image storage drivers -
Code:
[font=lucida console]
SiWinAcc.sys Thu Jun 14 20:02:02 2007 (4671D6FA)
SI3132.sys Wed Oct 03 14:39:29 2007 (4703E1E1)
SiRemFil.sys Wed Jun 20 15:42:10 2007 (46798312)

The other BSODs you speak "driver power state failure" are likely related to McAfee's firewall. Remove McAfee and see -

Follow the above suggestions and see if BSODs persist.

Hi jcgriff2,

First of all thanks for the speedy reply and the info.
I kind of feel dumb asking but what download should I get there:Silicon Image driver downloads --> http://www.siliconimage.com/support/
I havent got the slightest clue to which device I should be referring?

Will try out the rest of the tips in your reply later on today and let you know how that fared :)

Thanks again already :)
Everything seems fine now, since I removed Macaffee and took avast instead...

Didn't update the Silicon image driver yet since I couldn't figure out which one or how :p
Removed a graphics card and benchmarked the machine with a better result and no crashes or shutdowns.

Contacted Dell to replace the crossfire ATI HD 5770's with one HD5870 so that problem is solved as well :)

So far so good haven't had any more bsod's anymore, should I run into a new one again you'll be the first to know then :)

Thank you very much and keep up the good work!
