Me and my mum are going to PC World soon to get computer stuff, and get a wireless network.

I need to know what to get.

-------------------------

We have BT Broadband at 1mbps

We have 1 desktop PC, my mums laptop, my PS2 slimline, and my PSP.

All of which are to connect to the internet.

Our PC is in a different room to the phone socket, thus at the moment we have a long white cable trailing through the living room into the socket, with a DSL filter and the phone plugged in. My PS2 is also in that room.

What do we do? Also, I want to get my PS2 online, can I do THAT wirelessly? Or do I have to plug an ethernet cable into the wireless router, and where would the wireless router be situated, next to the phone socket?

Well, choosing a router is like anything. It comes down to preference, and your how thick your wallet is. IMHO, you can never go wrong with anything made by cisco.

It doesn't matter where the router is located, as long as it's connected to your modem. As for the PS2, I'm not sure. Did you try google?

Spending Cisco prices for a home system is somewhat ridiculous. Any brand name SOHO broadband router will probably fill the bill here. Obviously, you'll want to make sure your modem has Ethernet capability to allow the use of a router.

I'd suggest that you keep as many of the devices wired, since it's much easier to setup and live with. One only has to look at the multitude of wireless problems here to see that trend.
