I want to share files with my brother and play with him in LAN games but I can't set up a LAN...

So here's a picture of my network hardware:

I tried to set up the LAN by a youtube guide but it didn't work...:

When I click on the "show computers in the same workgroup" label text on the My Network Places window with my other computer (the one that connects wireless), it gives me an error.

Help please. :(

Edit:
We both have the same default gateway... 192.168.2.1

Let's see this from each of the computers.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands, one at a time, followed by the Enter key:

Note that there is a space before the -n or the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the - or / in the following commands.

NBTSTAT -n

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Can you ping each way by computer name from the other computer? Have you tried disabling ALL firewalls?

Check your Services are Started on all PCs:
  • COM+ Event System (for WZC issues)
  • Computer Browser
  • DHCP Client
  • DNS Client
  • Network Connections
  • Network Location Awareness
  • Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
  • Server
  • TCP/IP Netbios helper
  • Wireless Zero Configuration (XP wireless configurations only)
  • WLAN AutoConfig (Vista wireless configurations only)
  • Workstation

Note: You can check the services in Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services.

All of these services should be started, and their startup type should be automatic (or perhaps manual).

If a service is not running, open it's properties and check the dependencies. Check each of the dependencies and see which one is preventing the service from running. Checking the event log is also a good idea here, there may be clues to what is failing.

Okay I found out that ESET Smart Security 4 had it's network firewall on.
I disabled it and now I can share files with my brother but we still can't play LAN games.
I think it has something to do with the fact that I can't connect to his computer when I double click his computer in the workgroup directory, it requires a password and I have no idea what it is, but he can connect to my computer.

So how can I get his password?
His Windows doesn't require a password when he turns on his computer.

On each computer, run this.

Create a file in notepad named FIXANON.REG with the following contents:

You should have 3 boxes on the bottom in NOTEPAD.
1)Filename : FIXANON.REG
2)Save as type: all files
3)Encoding: ANSI
If you do not change it from txt type to All files type, then the file will actually be FIXANON.REG.txt, this won't accomplish the desired result.

------------------- Use ONLY the text after this line in the FIXANON.REG file -------------------
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa]
"restrictanonymous"=dword:00000000
------------------- Use ONLY the text before this line in the FIXANON.REG file-----------------

Double click on the file and say Yes to the merge into registry question.

Reboot the computer.
