The company domain had already been setup, when I got here. The problem I'm having is that they named the domain "abc.com" and now the mail server and website are being hosted remotely. So there have been forwards placed in the dns (Host A) to foward www , mail , webmail , & ftp to the remote IP(External)

The problem, every time something is referenced from internal missing the prefix like abc.com instead of www.abc.com it errors out.

How can I make it so that if its not found that it will forward to the external dns?

Server is also running,

Active Directory,
DHCP,
Wins,
& File Server

Thank you,
Wesley

Hello and Welcome to TSF!

See if this helps....Locate DNS Management from your Windows Server (Start=> Admin Tools=> DNS). Right click on your Server Name, select Properties, click on Forwarders Tab, try adding those DNS Forwarders (IP's) here given to you by your ISP.

Please post an update.

The forwards are listed in there, both Primary and Secondary, and also another widely used public DNS. If manually, set my DNS behind the network to the primary, I get to every fine, so I know its our DNS, seeing the abc.com without the sub on it, and thinking its local.

Is there away to set a record to foward any request without a sub?
