I use many different operating systems, eg. Vista and Ubuntu Linux etc, and in all my experiences, upgrading always causing some type of problems.
I have learned to never upgrade anymore. I now simply do a fresh install using the latest OS.
Then when it's up and running and configured to my liking, I use Acronis Trueimage to back it up.
Dear Kim, what you should have done was to backup all your pictures, movies etc onto a DVD, and then do a fresh new install.
Use search function and they might be in your documents directory now under a slightly different name. (in the various "pictures" and "music" directories)i recently upgraded my system from xp to vista and for sum reason i now cant find any of my music, video and picture files. i was told to look for a windows.old folder and im not seeing it anywhere on my c drive. Even a friend asked me if i was sure that i chose the upgrade option instead of the clean copy installation and I am more than positive that i chose the upgrade option because im seeing alot of the same programs i had when i had xp. So could someone PLEASE tell me why i cant find over 50gb worth of songs, pictures and videos and what i can do to get them back???? Could it be that the folders just got renamed??
PLEASE HELP!!!! :sigh::frown:
