Hi,

I'm trying to install a WD 1Tb SATA drive as a second data storage drive but when I connect it up and start the computer up neither the new drive nor the original HDD is detected so I cannot boot up. If I disconnect the second drive everything works as it should again.

Original drive is 120 Gb NTFS connected to SATA 1
Motherboard is K8V SE running XP SP 3

Any pointers will be much appreciated.

Ensure the port setup in the BIOS. Should be set to "IDE" mode or similar. You may also want to try a different data cable.
