Seagate usb drive with unknown file system

Hi, heres my problem, I recently threw out a humax pvr but decided that i'd keep the HDD inside it, but the drive is formatted in a humax file system which isnt compatible with windows, and i can only connect it to my pc with an ide to usb cable so it isnt recognised in ms-dos.

The model is a ST380012ACE, its 80GB IDE drive, its not working on vista or XP and i tried a couple of linux live cd's but they dont recognise it at all, I get a message in xp and vista saying the usb device is damaged but i hear the drive start, and feel it spinning and it was working fine in the pvr.

Any help greatly apreciated

KillDisk, which is a free utility, can fix that.

Just write a single pass of zeros to the hard drive, and then Windows will be able to format it.
