Hello,

This is my unit:

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB
S/N: 9VP0MH90
ST31000528AS
P/N: 9SL154-300
Firmware: CC34

This is my girlfriend's hard disk that has a burnt TVS diode in the power supply zone of the PCB. Do I have to jump the burned part or only remove the +12 TVS diode (principal)

Many thanks!!!

P. S. Maybe the same that this thread?

You need to remove the 5V TVS diode (the one on the left) and then bridge the burnt inductor. You can bridge the inductor by running a wire from the +5V pins in the SATA connector to the "v" end of the diode (cathode or striped end).

SATA power connector pinout diagram @ pinoutguide.com

You must check the PSU and the wiring, as the fault suggests that there was an overvoltage on the 5V input. Do not swap cables between modular PSUs, as their pinouts are not standardised.
