When I try to run any full screen application, my screen goes blank. The computer does not freeze, in fact the application keeps running normally; there is just nothing on the screen.
I'm using a notebook with a Radeon 9700 mobile video card. Anyone ever seen a problem like this?

Oh and I ran DXDiag. It worked fine until it got to the full screen test. When it tried that, the same problem happened. Screen went blank and there was nothing I could do. Had to restart the computer

Try reinstalling your graphics driver and DirectX9.0c

Great. Tried installing a different driver.

Now when I start up my computer, after the checkdisk utility screen (whether or not I skip it) my screen goes blank. So now my screen is blank before I've even seen windows. I'm thinking this notebook may just be done.

Solution...for me at least.

I have a Radeon HD 4870.

My 73' screen was going black on full screen mode of a game.

The solution: Start a low level overclock. Boost your fan speed to help for safety.

----Proceed at your own risk----

How to:

You need to get RivaTuner (google it)

*After install goto "main"
*Under the monitor picture is your graphics card. Below that another column with a sideways triangle.
*Click it and goto "Low-level system tweaks"
*Under overclocking... Enable it. Dont mess with it beyond that.
*Next: tab over to your fan.
*Enable and set to whatever you want. I did 50%. Your comp is set to only 25% of what it can really do.

Reboot your computer and hope it works for you.
