I am trying to install Win XP. i went through the blue screen to format the HD and then selected to install. it came to the XP GUI giving info on XP capabilities. This is still during install with the minutes ramaining on the left hand corner when it suddenly goes blank. it doesnt respond after.

Have you tried taking out any extra cards like modems, sound, nics, and then running the setup?

I have not added anything extra. Win ME was running on it previously. It it s PIII 800 with 256+ ram

Hi,

I tried installing win2000 and its doing the same. This time during hardware detection process, half way through, the screen went blank and HD activity has stopped.

HELP PLEASE

Try writing zeros to the drive then loading the OS.
