Scrabble 2.0 (Red Box) worked fine on my computer until I had to do a clean
install and reload all my programs. Before, I was using McAfee Firewall with
no problems but when I did the clean install I used ZoneAlarm instead. The
game works fine as long as I deactivate ZoneAlarm and then reload it when
I go online. I have checked both parties website for help and nothing works.
It seems that no one has an answer that I can find and am hoping that
someone on this site has some ideas or the solution. I am running Windows
98SE;AMD 450 PCU;256 Meg memory;VA-503+ Motherboard;Creative Graphics
Blaster RIVA Tnt Video Card. Everything is updated. I know this must seem
to be a trivial problem but it has bugged me beyond belief and I'm almost
embarrased to ask for help but if anyone is familiar with this problem I'd
surely appreciate your help. Thank you all in advance.

Firewalls block all programs from accessing the internet by default until you enable them. You should get a popup asking you to enable whenever you run any newly installed program.

If it's only Zone Alarm that's causing problems, go to Program Control > Programs tab, and click the Add button, then enter the Scrabble exe (you can find the full path in the Scrabble shortcut icon's properties). Then enable Internet Access for Scrabble in the programs list.

Tried your suggestion but still the same. Thanks for your idea.
When I try to run the game with ZoneAlarm activated the comp goes to a
black screen and locks up. Have to do a hard boot. Tried Scrabble"s fix
but it didn't work either.
