I just got my A8v deluxe running with XP pro on IDE. I want to install my 2 SATA drives which are already formatted with loads of vital files on them.
they are recognised when plugged in but windows can't see them.
I created a drivers floppy and everything installed fine I think.
But I don't want to format them so any clues?

No raid just separate drives full of data.
XP is running fine from another IDE so I don't get why it can't see the SATAs even though the bios can.

You may have to go into disk management and set the drives to active.
Admin tools component management is where to look. Double check on the
sata drivers. Im not sure you need drivers, not being in a raid array. I
assembled a pc with the intel 875 chipset, with sata drives alone, did not
need any special drivers. Something you may want to look at.

Only other thing, would be a bios setting. Im not familiar with that board
but make sure bios is set for ide devices, as well as sata. Might be a jumper
on board, I doubt it, re read your manual.
