Hi all.... now where to start - bought an Hitachi Deskstar 7k250 SATA drive - only wanted it as a storage drive - mounted it, wired it in, all ok but under 'My Computer' does not show!! Drive does show in Device Mger under 'Disk Drives' and in the Bios (but not under SATA) and using VIA RAID Tool but not as a Local Drive!!! Have got two IDE drives installed.

Searched high 'n' low for the reason but found nothing!

My system setup is as follows:

Asrock K7VT4APro M/Board
Win XP Home SP2

Any help would be BIG time appreciated!!!

format it in disk manager for windows to see it

I knew it would be simple!!! THANK YOU!!!!! It has worked!! Apart from 72mb unaccounted for...which I don't care about!!

Heh, my 160GB drive only allowed me to use 149GB. I want my other 11GB!!!

Did you guys ever think you would see the day a hard drive could be missing 72 gigs and the user not care !!!!

I can remeber not long ago a P-133mhz with a 750 mb drive was a monster system !!!! WOW

and original poster ? I am not making fun of you I am just marveling at how much components and systems have changed !!! wheeeew !!!

Two quick things.

First of all, great link, I had not come across that one.

Hey, my first HDD was a whopping 80MB. 2MB of wicked fast 90ns SIMM RAM. I had a VGA 3.0 ISA card with a then enormous 256KB frame buffer. Power!
