I recently acquired the above hard drive and cabling, so i asked my mate to come and fit it for me. The Bios recognised the drive but when I went to re-install Windows XP Professional, the operating system wouldn't recognise it. Anybody out there had the same problems, please let me know what is going on because I want this drive in my computer badly. Thanks.

Lo!
What are your motherboard specs?
On the new intel boards there is a setting in the Bios which has to to with your
different hard drive boot modes, it has settings for raid, sata, sata2 and IDE.
Set it to IDE. Same thing happened to me and I changed that setting and viola,it worked.
Can't remember the name of that seting though. Just look around for something of that
nature. Good luck.

Did you enable Sata in the bios?

Have you set it to operate as IDE?

Do you have it on the right connectors?

Do you have your boot order set to:

cdrom - 1st
Floppy - 2nd
Hard Drive - 3rd

Do you have the disk priority set to have the disk you want to boot from as FIRST in that list?
