Hey everyone, I just have a quick question.

My External hard drive crashed with a Data Cyclic Redundancy error (or something like that). I'm doing a file recovery now, with over 38% done (Thank God!) (apparently my backup of my computer, which i stored on the hard drive, is faulty) and i wanted to know if i could use the Hard drive after i recover all the files and format it without worry of losing all my files again.

whats the make and model of the harddrive - you can get some manufacturers tools to test the drive - i would do that
BUT
al drives will fail at some time - so not a reliable backup , if this is the only device you use

run a diagnostic utility from the manufacturers website and see what it says.

Ok, will do as soon as i get it back...I gave it to my Dad's company's IT guy to try to fix it.

hi!my advice after you recover your data from the old hdd don`t use it again change with a new one.
