i have been having several different issues with my pc. Its a toshiba satellite a105. Seems that everytime my roomate uses it, something goes wrong. This time, i can't fix it by myself...i am not very experienced. At startup desktop flashes a few times, then disappears, leaving only my background. Boot in safe mode, and screen is blank. I can't seem to find the problem. Also note than in safe mode, that one of the administers now has a password that i did not create, and that sometimes on windows log in screen, in bottom left corner it says "turn off computer" and other times it says "turn off Laptop1". I don't know how this happened, or how to get rid of it. System restore has no checkpoints except today.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

When you boot regularly press ctrl alt delete

under the applications tab right click and run new process.

run this

explorer.exe

your desktop should reappear, if it doesn't met me know.

running explorer.exe does bring the desktop up, however it just fvlashes a few times then disappears again.
