Welcome to TSF, shanet89.

71C is definitely too hot. What family of CPU is it (AthlonXP, Athlon64, Sempron, etc.)? How did you check the temperature? Download SensorsView and Everest (both in my signature), and check the temp with each program, to make sure it's correct.

Check that the fan on the CPU heatsink is working properly. Clear out any dust inside the case - especially on the CPU heatink and fan. You may also want to reapply the thermal paste - see "Thermal Paste Guide" in my signature for instructions on how to do that.

Let us know how you go with all that.

When you clean your system do you use compressed air? If not you might have knocked your heatsink and created a bad thermal connection between it and the processor, in which case you definitely need to redo your thermal paste following the instructions given to you by Indoril.

Considering the huge temperature difference, it's better to be safe than sorry.

Download and run Everest and see what it reports while your system is under heavy load. One of the programs is not reporting correctly and, while utilities from motherboard makers tend to be reliable, it's a good idea to double-check. That extra inch of checking could save you a good chunk of money.
