Hi people.

Hope I can get some answers here. I have a Windows 10 computer with an Epson Stylus 2710 installed. Just sending a test page results in "Remote Procedure Call failed and did not execute". The result being that nothing prints. I've set the RPC setting to Automatic, the RPC Locator to Manual and DCOM to Automatic, as per Microsoft instructions, and tried around 15 other "fixes" found on the Internet, from SFC to antivirus checking and nothing works. The only other thing I can think of is deleting all the Epson stuff (drivers etc.) and letting Windows find the printer, but I'm not hopeful. Any help/ideas would be very welcome.

Hi.

Sorry to say that none of the above fixes worked, so when I have time it's looking as though it's a system reset. But thanks for your help in any case.

Ah, I left my colleague to do the last check, and it turns out he didn't follow up. I'm going to try the last option on your list on Monday and I'll get back to you. As always, many thanks.

Hi.

Finally got around to testing out the final option given on your reply. Sorry, but no joy. Still getting RPC failed to execute. I then came across a possible fix on "thegeekpage.com/fix-dcom-event-id-10016-error-in-windows-10/" (this was an expanded version of a similar fix found through Microsoft Answers).

No luck with this one, but there was a different type of problem occurring in addition to the RPC failed to execute - this time every time I tried to send a test page the print spooler sat down. Without sending the page it stayed up. Tomorrow morning I'm going to carefully go over the above fix again to ensure that I haven't made any mistakes in its entry. If I have no luck it's been decided that we will simply do a backup and complete reset.

Frustrating, but starting to lose money here.

That said, thanks for your input - it put me onto possible solutions.

Start a Command Prompt as Admin. Copy and Paste, or Type the following Bold Command and press Enter.
DISM /Online /CLEANUP-IMAGE /RestoreHealth
when that completes type
SFC /scannow
these commands will replace any missing system files.

Hi.

Thanks for all your help. Tried this but no luck so in the end we did a complete reset - this also cured a couple of other errors that we hadn't noticed and now everything is okay. Still no clue as to what caused the error but this is now solved.

Thankyou so much.
