I installed Mandrake 9 today. And I must say its comes along way since 7.2 which is the last version I used almost 2 years ago.

Installation was a breeze, offering an expert and new user installation option.

I chose expert and found that it has been cleaned up quite a bit as well. Partitioning with DiskDrak is much smoother then previous versions.

Installation of a standard desktop configuration of packages took 15 minutes!!! By far the fastest of the distro's I've tried.

As has been standard with Mandrake for some time, the last step is to configure your X windows settings, and unlike both Redhat and Lycoris, which I reviewed recently, Mandrake lets you go back and change settings before you confirm your settings... so before your first boot up.. you know that X is going to work.. no worries that something won't come up correctly :) I like that ALOT

All in all. I give Mandrake an A- ... and in my humble opinion.. it is still the best distribution for new linux users...
