Wow. My 1394 Firewire card randomely decided to stop working, not let me connect any external hard drives, or my laptop. When I try to repair the connection, for it has not DNS, Subnet Mask, or anything, I get the error message,

"Windows could finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot completed:
TCP/IP is not enabled for this connection. Cannot proceed.
For assistance, contact the person who manages your network."

Right. I am the person who manages my network, and I did nothing. What is going on, and what do I need to do to fix this? Thanks for the help!

that's a firewire card if i'm not mistaken, I don't think firewire cards can obtain ip addresses, subnet mask and dns. are you connected to your network through the firewire card?

You can indeed network with Firewire, though I have personally never bothered to try it.

Have you tried removing all of the Firewire (IEE1394) components from Device Manager and rebooting?
