how do i reinstall vista's bootloader without installing. i've tried vistabootpro 3.1, which works great for uninstalling, but the reinstall option doesn't work.
hey drum, i ran across an article in smart computing that might help you out, not sure if it pertains to vista or not, but it's worth a shot. the part you need is about half way through the article.
did that, didn't work; it found the hard drive with vista on it, i did a startup repair/recovery thinger and it didn't work; the xp bootloader was still going.
i'd really like some help...i tried going to a command prompt ran from the vista dvd after i boot into it, and did this: f:\boot\bootsect.exe /nt60 D:
and it did nothing.
I should of posted earlier, but I somehow fixed it. I put in the DVD and did a 'Startup Repair' thing and it worked. I've done it a few times before but it didn't work, so I guess this was the lucky try.
howd u get ultimate for free...thehotfix.net?
i don't see why people can't just wait to buy the thing instead of going crazy about the rtm and beta's.
people are kinda weird sometimes...l
oh.
how exactly did u get it cause i signed up for the rc1 beta testing stuffs and stuff so i downloaded vista rc1 x64 and i got a legit key from them...i guess i just wasn't picked?
i was beta testing from last year, long before rc1 which was a public release
it's the beta testers that work with ms to get to the rc1 stage
to get in the early stage you apply and sit back and wait for an invitation which is the only way in
Vista's recovery options are top notch. So useful compared to what XP had to offer. If you can't fix it from WinRE (booting from DVD), your only painless option is to nuke the partition.
