I have reformated several times and this always comes back and happens. Its no big deal but I would just like to know why it is happening. When I go to restart my PC it shuts down and closes windows down then goes to a black screen and stays there. I then have to hit the reset button on the front of the pc. After a fresh reformat it works properly for a couple of times then it starts doing this again. No big deal but why is this happening.:angry2:

Restart problem...

I only have two possible things, but you probably have already considered them. Is it because of any system updates (such as those from Windows Update)? The security updates may modify the shutdown sequence. Also, check to see if there are any flash upgrades for your bios.

Did you fdisk the hard drive before formatting it?

Even better is to write zeros to the drive this will clean it off proper. then fdisk and format it with a W98 boot disk. That's if you want to use FAT32

If you want to use NTFS just boot to the W2K CD and do the installation from there after writing zeros.
