Xp Image Backup

I regularly perform a complete image backup of my 40GB H/D using Acronis True Image 8.0. I backup to a Western Digital 80GB H/D.

Question: Since I live in south Louisiana and would take the external H/D with me if a hurricane hit my area instead of taking my computer, would I be able to restore my image backup to a new computer if my current computer was destroyed in a hurricane or should I be creating a clone image which I would restore to a new computer if the current one was destroyed.

Could I restore my current image backup to a new computer?

Not unless the motherboard and system were the same. XP is not very forgiving for changing systems...you couold try XCP repair by booting to cd, but that is a hit or miss affair and seldom runs right.
What you could do though is install Acronis on New PC, and then restore all your files and data to new one using Acronis Explorer where you view and restore files from the image file on the external hard drive.
