Switching from Wireless to Wired

Het guys,

I am trying to swich my daughter's computer from a wireless connection to a wired one. My reasons are that she's quite aways away from the router and has poor signal strength - even with add on boosters.

So, I ran a cable up to her room. Now what do I do to have the router see her computer?

I have a belkin F50 7230-4

Thanks

Well, you should just have to plug the cables in on both ends and boot it up!

Are you sure the cable is good? If you put the connectors on, you may want to take a real close look, since getting the pairs mis-matched will cause you no end in grief.

Some CAT5 wiring diagrams. CAT5 Cable Wiring Diagram #1, CAT5 Cable Wiring Diagram #2, CAT5 Cable Wiring Diagram #3

If you still aren't connected, perhaps you can tell us exactly what the symptoms are.

ipconfig /all

See if you are connected and have a valid IP address.

Also make sure the network connection is enabled.

Johnwill was right! I remade the cable ends and the router and computer found each other just fine. Consider this one solved. :sayyes:

Thanks
