No Sound!!

Hi Guys,

I've recently installed XP. Now I have no sound...at all! I have tried:

1) reinstalling XP
2) reinstalling drivers from original mobo cd
3) installing latest drivers from driversguide.com
4) bought a new set of speakers
5) bought a new sound card (mobo has onboard AC-97 sound)

I have checked all settings in Control Panel and the C-Media control panel, and have tried every variation of the C-Media check boxes I can think of!

The mobo worked fine with ME, and is compatible with XP...allegedly!

Any help would be fantastic!

Did you enable AC97 in BIOS? Or disable it if you're using a sound card.
Koala you are a genius. Such a simple solution I should be ashamed!! I've no idea why it wasn't working before, but it looks like the new sound card, and disabling AC97 in BIOS, has done the trick. (And I scared the bejesus out of my 2yr old son when the speakers blared out the Windows opening theme just now!!)

Cheers for that mate!! (and thanks to ICE2005 for your advice too),

Thanks a lot guys,

Faldekan
