I have the Directx 9 b and I tried to upgade it to the c version ...every time I click NEXT in the installtion wizard ,, directly It tells me that installtion complete without copying any files .....

Is there a way to remove the old directx files and install the new ones ...

"" Opinion '' => If I extract the files from the new version and drop them in the C:\windows\system32 folder as to mimic the Setup program ????""

Please Help ..

Try deleting all your temporary files to make sure there isn't any problem there, you can do this with the Disk Cleanup wizard. Simply right click on your Hard Drive, select Properties, and then select the Disk Cleanup Wizard.

Once you've done this, download another copy of DirectX and let it do its thing, if this doesn't produce any results, try updating DirectX via Windows Update Here.

DirectX9.0c cannot be uninstalled, it is too deeply embedded into the operating system.

There are programs available, such as DirectX Eradicator http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=509 but I would be very careful using them, and you should create a System Restore point before making any changes.

What graphics card and motherboard do you have?

Start > Run > dxdiag for more information and DirectX tests.

Personally, I wouldn't use any DirectX Uninstaller. I used one once with DX8 and it messed up my system, but it's up to you.

Have you installed WinXP SP2?

Try deleting these files and then reinstall DirectX... d3d9.dll and dxdiagn.dll in Windows\System32

Koala ... I think I solved the problem ...

I extracted all the dll and vxd from the directx9c and overwrite them at the system32 in the safe mode ... and every thing goes fine ...I run the dxdiag and done all the tests , but in the Directx files section the file directx.cpl is a debug version ....and I didn`t find this file ,,, Could you upload it please or send it to my E-mail([email protected])..

thank you for your patience....
