Help identifying a DAT drive!

Hi,

I got this DAT drive from a friend, but that's all I have is the drive. I don't exactly know what kind of tapes I need. I do know that it's a Compaq, and the model no. is C1539 - 00485. I do know it needs 4/8 GB, but what exactly does that mean? This is an internal SCSI drive. I have no clue if I have all the hook-ups, as I have never worked with a DAT drive before. I do have the SCSI cable, and such, but there is another little plug on the right I am not sure about.

Can you post pics of the drive and cable?

Found some resources on it...as ebackhus said you'll need a SCSI card...try finding an Adaptec 2940UW PCI card and it'll do nicely.
Also go here to get a manual for your drive.

Thank you very much for the help.

Actually, the Adaptec 2940 is exactly what I have.

I have everything installed in my computer, but now I don't know what exactly to expect. Is the drive supposed to show up in My Computer, or does it only work in MS Backup? Can SCSI drives be shared over a network?

It's probably only gonna show up in MS Backup...that's the way any of my tape drives have done. Probably won't be able to share them either.
