help EPSON STYLUS C42 UX doesnt print

hi, my epson printer worked fine until a while ago when it stopped printing all together, the print head goes from left to right as if its printing but no ink comes out on the paper, i have cleaned the heads and done nozzle checks buit this still does not solve the problem, any ideaS?

p.s. i was told a while back that using alternative ink cartridges breaks your printer, and i have been would this be the reason and what would i need to do to get it repaired.

It is unlikely that the problems you have are caused by the use of compatible cartridges. It is more likely to be that the printer wasn't used for a while and the ink has dried in the print heads causing a blockage. In Epson printers the print head is an integral part of the printer, unlike HP machines in which the priinter head is a part of the cartridge.
If you can't clear the blockage with the Epson utility you could consider buying 'cleaner' cartridges which claim to flush the printer heads. They are quite expensive though.
In my opinion printers aren't worth fixing. A new Epson C46 can be found for under £37. I only buy compatible cartridges (£8.99 for 12 cartridges on ebay, plus postage) and with the money saved, buy a new printer at the first sign of trouble.

the head cleaning fluid i purchased worked wonders and then i put two new cartridgs in now prints like new, and i got 12 new carteidges for #15.43 cnt say fairer than that!
