Blank Desktop

I've got the same problem as kevinappleby in his thread, no desktop shortcuts, no toolbar and no start menu. Only way I can run programs is through task manager. It was my intention just to follow the replies in kevs thread and see if they worked for me, trouble is I now find that the damn machine wont let me run any anti-virus/spyware software! Have tried downloading new but it just doesn't work. Not sure if it's relevant but all this started when I tried installing XP SP2.

Do you have access to the task manager ( ctrl+alt+delete ) ?

Yeah, I 'm using task manager at the moment to run all my programs and utilities 'cause it's the only way I can get into anything. I think I can access everything through there.

Ok great plase download the DT-TB fix ( link provided below ) and copy it on a flash usb driver or floppy and run it from the task manager. Should be the fix. ( remember to disable security programs since they will block the script )

Well waddya know!!!!! How easy was that? You my friend are a God, and I am eternally grateful. (Ok, that's enough!) Still can't run anti-virus etc, but will post a thread about that later.
