ASUS K8V SE Deluxe LAN problem

Good afternoon all,

Just built a new computer using an ASUS K8V SE motherboard. I'm installing WinXP SP2 now, but note that my onboard LAN port lights on the back of the motherboard don't light up. Nor does my router show a link light. The cable is a known good cable and I've tried others.

Do I need to install the drivers from the motherboard CDROM before the onboard LAN port will work at all? I'd assume at the very least, it would show the link light once a cable was installed.

The LAN settings in BIOS are "ENABLED" and boot from LAN "DISABLED."

thanks in advance!

Works now!

Installed the driver from the ASUS disk and it started working!

Unfortunately, once I turned on Cool and Quiet, everything went to pot and I started getting "Service Pack 2 has a problem and must close." Reinstalling windows now as a driver rollback didn't work... :(

thanks!

up and running!

Apparently the Cool and Quiet drivers on the K8V SE Deluxe CD-ROM are faulty. Just reinstalled XP SP2 and its working great. LAN works great and no more odd SP2 messages.

thanks,
ben
